There are multiple different approaches dependant on tumour type, size, position and the type of patient.
- The sliding H-plasty where skin is mobilised from ventral to the lid margin and slid dorsally and then the conjunctiva sutured into place.
- Lewins technique where skin is mobilised lateral to the area being treated and conjunctiva is also slid into position.
- Mustarde technique where skin is transplanted from one lid to the other in two stages.
- Lip to lid transposition where the lip is used to donate tissue to the eyelid .
It maybe that further imaging will be necessary in some cases to gain a better idea of prognosis. Generally, the simplest approach is always the best, although some cases can demand a two-stage approach.
