Chronic vague lameness can be frustrating to diagnose. Our visiting orthopaedic consultations offer a fresh pair of eyes, we can come to your practice to perform an orthopaedic consultation with the owners. If indicated we can carry out further diagnostics such as radiography and joint taps. In addition we will advise on advanced imaging techniques such as CT and MRI scanning that may be of benefit. We are also more than happy to discuss any case you may be struggling with and offer an alternate perspective on the best way to proceed.
Our orthopaedic consultations and lameness work-ups provide:
- An in-person meeting at your practice with your client and their pet providing the opportunity to explain and discuss treatment options.
- The option for our surgeons to perform additional diagnostic tests such as radiography and sampling.
- A written report with the surgeons assessment and recommendations.
If you would like to arrange an orthopaedic consultation with one of our surgeons, simply complete our online referral form. We ask that you submit the clinical history along with relevant radiographs and laboratory test results. Our administration team will send the patient details to one of our experienced surgeons who will review the patient’s details. We will then work with you to find a suitable date and time for the Rata surgeon to visit your practice. Consultations typically last approximately half an hour which allows time for the patient to be examined and options discussed with the owner. These will be detailed in the report which is emailed to the practice after the orthopaedic consultation.
